How & Why I Chose My Blog Name

Hello everyone! Today’s post is a little different than usual. I’m choosing to talk about why and how I chose my blog name, because it can be a little difficult.

About a year ago is when I decided to start a blog. It was just thing that happened – I woke up and decided to do it. When I started thinking about my name three things came to mind: it has to be unique, catchy and personal. I used all of the name generators out there, and none of them seemed to do the trick.

Fall is my favorite season (as you can tell), and I wanted to use an element from the season that wasn’t too obvious. ‘Fox’ is what I chose to be the first element of my blog name. The animal is associated with Fall, but also with other seasons. Whenever I personally think of the animal I think of Fall, and therefore it worked for me! ‘Luxe’ was almost ‘Lux’ – pronounced the same way. Luxe is an abbreviation of luxury, and lux means ‘light’ in Latin. There are a few reasons why I didn’t use lux: I was afraid that my audience would pronounce it l-ooo-x, and luxe is used more in the fashion world.

Even after all of this, I still felt anxious about using the name that I had personally put a lot of effort into. Well, when you choose a name you don’t have to stick with it forever! However, Fox & Luxe has really grown on me, and I can say after a little over a year of blogging that it is my brand. It is a great feeling knowing that I have my own little corner of the web where I can be myself and have my own audience. Putting effort into a blog name will pay off in the end and even if you don’t like it you can ALWAYS change it!
